Weekly Blog #6: even more stuff to do

I'm doing this late again as expected, so hi. If I thought I had a lot of stuff to do the previous week, this week I'm dying. However, I still have the energy to do this (barely and as an obligation because I have to do it). Here's what we saw last week:

What we saw last week on SMRT 140

  • Passwords
  • Reddit
  • Online identity
The most interesting thing that we saw was a media about passwords. It was this geeky lady that kept telling us how there's a science and logic behind every password. She said that hackers had tecniques because there are some passwords that a lot of people had, such as: princess, password, monkey, 1234567, etc. It made me think that I am very easy to hack, and it was overall a good talk.

Moreover, we had to make a 500 word text in a forum so we could all participate on the conversation and vote on each other. We decided to do this on reddit because we thought it was funny. It was really confusing though and it didn't let us commet that much, people needed to wait a long time to submit something. The memes paola uploaded were cool.

Lastly, we started an activity in which we saw new voabulary and it warned us about sharing our true identity on the internet. It made me worry about my profiles but I am still leaving them that way.

The word of the week is:

Megalithic

Sorry for not putting gifs, I will be better next week. Thanks for the realtionship advice! It worked. I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.

Weekly Blog #5: a lot of stuff to do

Yesterday, I went to my dad's pueblo which is called Ortiz (it's really ulgy though) and as I am a procrastinator I waited till the last minute to do it, so here I am again. Welcome.

What we saw last week on SMRT 140

  • How digital media is transforming product design
  • Pronunciation
  • Hardcore noting
  • Screencasting
What we drained our time with the most was with a reading as extensive as my hate for this blog about product design and some other boring topics. However, I did found some of the examples that they provided really interesting like the jacket that zips itself to force intimacy between two individuals. Amazing.

We also had some exercises about pronuciation and all that jazz, it's really funny to watch everybody trying to pronounce those words.

On the other side, we had to make some hardcore noting from the super long reading that I mentioned previously. I almost died trying to catch up with everything. When I was finished taking notes on page 1, we were already on the 6th page. It was a disaster but I loved the adrenaline.

As you should already know, I did the screencasting on the morning because I arrived late to Hermosillo and I was pretty exhausted. It was cool though.

Wekly Blog #4: I'm fine I guess

We haven't done anything that trascendental since we've just finished our exams; however, we've started a new unit that seems interesting so here's what we saw last week (and this Monday).

What we saw last week on SMRT 140

  • A Darwinian theory of beauty
  • Reading
Last week we started media 3-1, in which we only did the vocabulary part because time is never enough. I've seen that vocabulary is getting harder in a way. Or at least for me, I remember in last units I knew some of the words and now I don't. I guess this is good because I'm learning new stuff. Amazing.
This media was actually really interesting. It talked about how we normally think that beauty is very dependent on the culture that you are port of, but it also says that there are some things that are found beautiful universally and that's because of our evolution. We are always linked to our past, and things that had to do with our origins, are found beautiful in all the world. Pretty cool right?

We started a new reading that we haven't actually read, but seems interesting. The vocabulary looks hard though; looking forward into reading it.

That's it, I feel like we are advancing really fast, and I am not ready for university. I feel like my future is going to be crappy and I am going to die of stress. Also, I want to go out on the weekend and being grounded sucks.

Weekly Blog #3: MENTAL BREAKDOWN (again)

It's been great, we've been chilling because we nailed it when we chose our special purpose unit. However, we did work in the week and this is what we saw:

What we saw last week on SMRT 140

  • Boring as hell reading
  • Great memes
  • Meltdown

We had to make an activity called Makes a Meme Instead, and it was a super long reading about how memes evolved and ther origin and all that jazz. We stumbled upon some internet jewels like "bert is evil", but it was somewhat boring because it was too long and we had to listen to each other reading, so it was not fun. :(

Miss K left us abandoned because she went to see her boyfriend at a concert. Miss Cristina took care of us and we listened to Jenni Rivera while doing some dank memes. Amazing

I'd also liked to thank Miss K and my classmates from SMRT140 for my near to exploding nervous breakdwon because of our thesis. We had no idea what to do but we managed to do it on time and everything wen relatively okay.

Love you Miss K, hope you had a blast at Bruno's.

Weekly Blog #2: MACHINES ARE CONTROLLING US

Hello, today I am really content with myself because it is early and I already did my homework and two projects, which is a new record for me. Anyways I am doing this blog entry correctly this time, so this is what we saw last week.

What I learned last week on SMRT 140

  • Boring af video
  • German Technician memes
  • Screencasting #2
  • Memes and Temes

One of the videos that was on media this week was called Dan Dennet: Dangerous Memes, and it was SOOOO BORING OMG. Dennet was an old man and his way of speaking was incredibly boring, I think it was due to the fact that his talk was targeted to other audicience. However, on resume he said that memes were threatening our culture and that's why they are dangerous.

We also saw a Buzzfeed article which was full with memes  of a  German university, where an authomatic door was broken and the  technician didn't fix it, so people overfloaded the door with memes, kinda protesting about the problem. This level of pettinnes actually made the problem to be solved, it was still very funny.

Something that we did that got me thinking the whole week was watching a video of memes again but we a twist. This lady basically said that machines are controlling and that we needed to take care because they will rule the world and that's why aliens ahaven't contacted us, or something like that. Anyways, it was very interesting, high, and I like it a lot.

Lastly, we made a screencasting about a critic review of something that we watched or read during the week. I made it about machines controlling us, it was okay I guess and I made it on time.

The word of the week is:

Memetics

Thanks for reading me, love you lots byeEE.

I'm sad but I had to do this: Writing 1-1 Summary

Back at this again, still frustrated that they want us to suffer like this. sorry bye

“How to Make  Splash on Social Media” is a TED talk made by Alex Ohanian, who is a part of the creators of the social news website Reddit, where he explains how his website helped Greenpeace choose a name for a whale and actually saving them in Japan. It is important to mention that Reddit works by posting stuff that you like and people votes on whether they like it or not, a lot of memes were created there. There was this campaign Greenpeace was doing where they wanted to save whales from being hunt in Japan, and they wanted to do it by tracking a whale and they wanted to name it. A lot of people were voting on really fancy names, but a smart guy decided that he wanted the whale to be named “Mr. Splashy Pants”. He went on to Reddit and said “Hey guys, there’s this thing on Greenpeace to save whales, let’s name this one Mr. Splashy Pants and win ok? Ok” and it worked. A lot ofpeople voted, Reddit changed their logo for a whale at that time and they wonwith 70% of the votes, but Greenpeace didn’t like this so they give more timefor the poll to close and for another name to win. Nonetheless Mr. SplashyPants won, Greenpeace sold merch about it and they actually saved the whales. This is an example of how by creating a meme and making other people interested you can help in a good cause, you don’t have to be all serious to help in something. The internet is about that, creating content and conversations so people get caught in and participate.

Weekly Blog #10: Pls let's go already

HIIII, I feel really crappy today I don't know why, I have fever and my joints hurt so bad.  Guess I am finally dying and have a good night of eternal sleep. However, I am still doomed with this blog, so here's what we saw last week (even though I don't remember that well).

What I learn last week in SMRT 140

  • Controlling deforestation in Brazil
  • Paraphrasing
  • Xmas Exchange

You know SMRT wanted us to solve dorestation? Well we did, and this week we had an activity that consisted on watching a video that was related with deforestation. I was paired with Paola, and we had to watch a video about how Brazil is dealing with deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. It was really unfair that we had to make an outline of TWO VIDEOS, and everyone else just had to watch one, but it is fine, I'll get over it. It was really sad that we worked so hard to make the outline and we couldn't present. All because of a policemen presentation about how we shouldn't throw shade at them all the time. We'll probably present tomorrow so, prepare for awesomeness.

Another skill that worked last week was paraphrasing. There were several paragraphs that were taken from previous activities.and that we had to write again but weith our words. It was easy because we've done it several times in the past blocks. I don't have complaints about this, can you believe it?! WOOOoOooOw

The coolest thing about last week was that we planned our Christmas exchange, I am very excited and I want to give my gift already.

The word of the week is:

Deforestation (because it's the only word I remember)

Sorry for not adding gifs, I feel really bad. I love youuuuu byeeEEE.

Weekly Blog #8: Sunburn

We went to the annual highschool's rally last Friday and I am currently terribly sunburned and without voice for screaming so much. I am...
